Concept art photoshop

This is my concept art based on the journey to the centre of the earth from my folder 2. I took this idea from the image were i seen a group of men land in the land of huge mushrooms i took it to come up in an idea to work out my skill in tablet painting though i still find myself much to work on the shadow and smoothness of the image.

I took the concept from this image which shows a scene taken from the book journey to the centre of the earth by jules verne(1864). Its a wonderful story  and i am still trying to workout with the brushes and strokes. And i also watched the latest movie of the journey to the centre of the earth(2008).

This film has a lot of graphic to it and was interesting to watch though i like to admit  that i liked to read the book in which the story defers compared to the film.

Interim Online Review - Unit 2 : Space 10/11/09

Hi Shafi,

In all honesty, I'm worried about you. Yes, your most recent image has potential, but - to be brutal - in terms of innovation and originality - it simply mirrors an existing image by someone else; the point-of-view is the same, the ordering of the image... I also appreciate that you - like everyone else - is in the process of mastering the graphics tablet and a new, more impressionist way of image-making - but I am struggling to understand how you are spending your time here at UCA; I can't see any evidence that you are giving your studies your fullest attention; your blog is empty in comparison with your classmates - there maybe a number of reasons for this; let's explore them.

1) You experience difficulty with blogger or with internet access (in other words, you produce lots of work, but are unable to showcase it according to instructions).

2) You aren't creating the work to upload/you're simply not working hard enough or with enough focus?

Are you experiencing difficulty balancing your studies, Shafi? If so, I would like you come and arrange a time to talk with me about how we can improve the situation and move things forward. If, however, you're not doing the work required of you because you not sure how much work IS required of you, then go visit Ruben's blog for a reality check; that is what is expected of you at degree level and on this course. I can't make my position any clearer. Your Unit 1 submission was very nearly a fail; right now, your blog isn't at pass standard. I'm sorry I can't be more positive, but you've got more than enough time to improve your situation - so I suggest you make it a priority. It's time to impress me, Shafi. I want to see your potential and if you can sustain this level of study at the standard now expected of you.

Please see second comment for more general advice re. the written assignment

Hey there Shafi,

in regards to what Phil has said, I shall go into a bit more detail as to what you should have in your blog by now.
1.An analysis of the 3 scenes you are illustrating with sketches and annotations.

2. Research into the genre and examples of how others have tackled this subject.

3. Numerous thumbnail drawings, sketches and notes.

4. Visual research to identify and justify the "Look" of your universe.

5. Preliminary drawings that are starting to focus your research and experimentation to a starting point for your 3 final images.

Ideally this needs to done and up ASAP.... Remember scan don't photograph sketchbook pages and reference material.

Hope that helps as a checklist.
